Il rider del Team Quiksilver Tony Hawk, il più grande skater di tutti i tempi, ha regalato stasera una straordinaria performance a Mumbai per il primo evento skateboard mai organizzato in India. Tutto questo di fronte a quasi 5000 spettatori accorsi in massa alla Dhirubhai Ambani International School. Tony Hawk e gli amici Kevin Staab, Andy MacDonald, Sam Bosworth, insieme al giovane prodigio Mitchie Brusco, hanno superato loro stessi per intrattenere una folla enorme ed entusiasta raccolta intorno ad una delle più imponenti rampe verticali al mondo, costruita da Quiksilver per l'occasione.

Tony e colleghi hanno mostrato le loro migliori manovre in un susseguirsi di air e lip tricks sia old school che in stile moderno, con Scott Nixon, Dj star dal Regno Unito, alla consolle. Andy MacDonald, 8 volte campione del mondo di skateboard e vincitore di 21 medaglie agli X Games,  ha impressionato la folla con il suo 360 backside boneless.

Dalla sua, Tony “Birdman” Hawk ha chiuso un perfetto 720 e un mc twist sospeso a  3 metri di altezza sulla rampa. Ha anche tentato più volte un 900°, supportato dal pubblico che gridava il suo nome.

Tony Hawk : “Con migliaia di ragazzini che ci guardano oggi, mi chiedevo se questo evento potesse cambiare in qualche modo la vita di alcuni di loro. Spero fermamente che lo skateboarding cresca in India. Quando vedo l'energia ed il desiderio di tutti questi ragazzi e bambini, mi immagino che forse, tra qualche anno uno di loro diventerà uno dei migliori skater del mondo”. “E' incredibile pensare che ogni singolo trick che chiudi sia il primo mai realizzato su suolo indiano. E' davvero una forte motivazione. L'eccitazione del pubblico indiano mi ha davvero spinto a fare del mio meglio. Ho cercato di chiudere un 900° più volte ma purtroppo non ce l'ho fatta. E' un'ottima ragione per tornare qui!”

Questa fantastica demo con Tony Hawk, tra i personaggi più rappresentativi degli action-sport nel mondo, ha inoltre dato a Quiksilver l'opportunità straordinaria di celebrare il lancio del brand in India e la recente apertura dei primi 3 negozi sul territorio indiano negli ultimi 5 mesi.

Quiksilver's legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk will be heading to Mumbai, India in December 2011 for the first ever skateboarding demo in the country. Along with some of the best ramp riders such as Kevin Staab, Andy MacDonald, Sam Bosworth and young prodigy Mitchie Brusco, Tony Hawk will defy the laws of gravity on a monumental vert ramp (4,50m high, 19m large and 18m deep) shaped by G Ramps. The massive half pipe will be settled by Quiksilver for one single show scheduled on December 3rd at School Grounds, behind Dhirubhai Ambani International School, BKC in Mumbai.

 

Hosting The Tony Hawk & Friends Show in Mumbai gives Quiksilver a unique and sensational opportunity to celebrate the launch of the brand in India and the recent openings of the first 3 stores in the country in a 5 months period.

Tony's latest appearances with Quiksilver included his show in the majestic surroundings of the Grand Palais in Paris (nov 2009), the European Tour where the greatest skateboarder ever and his crew headlined four amazing performances in Berlin, Rome, Barcelona in front of 25 000 spectators (picture) and Brighton in 2010... Last September, Tony Hawk made a rare exhibition for the Quiksilver Pro New York opening with an unprecedented vert demo held in Manhattan. The Mumbai show promises to be one of the most spectacular and unusual of the Skateboarding Master.

Quiksilver is also thrilled to announce that English artist and producer/DJ Scott Nixon will be performing live during the Tony Hawk & Friends Show in Mumbai. The British deck star is a man of many talents. From his debut at London's superclub - Fabric back in November 05, he's now a regular on the scene playing at clubs nationwide, including Heaven, Ministry of Sound and a host of international festivals. Scott Nixon has been mixing before he first stood on a snowboard over 20 years ago. Being a pro-rider on the European snowboard scene for over 15 years opened up a huge freesport audience to his mixing talents and he's been a regular at massive surf & snowboard events for years, including the Freeze Festival takeover of Battersea Power Station and the Tony Hawk Show in Brighton.

Quiksilver snowboarding's Todd Richards took a break from the mountains for a skate session at Door 33.

 

Tony Hawk just finished up some demo's in Sweden with follow vert riders Jesse Fritsch, Mitchie Brusco, Neal Hendrix, Sam Becket, and Jocke Olsson.

 

Tony gave the Swedish crowd something to remember by ending the demo with a 900.

 

 

Skateboarding e fotografia uniti nell'arte

 

 

Dal 16 al 21 maggio, Cádiz ospiterà la terza edizione del Quiksilver Skate in Vision, una competizione internazionale senza pari, che combina arte e urban culture, skateboard e fotografia.

 

After the success of the past two editions, which were held in Bilbao and Madrid, it will again be the invited skaters and photographers who will bring this unique event to life. Their goal: capture the best snapshot in the Andalusian city's best known yet most hidden skate spots.

 

Dopo il successo delle due passate edizioni, che si sono tenute a Bilbao e Madrid, saranno ancora una volta gli atleti invitati e i fotografi a dare vita all'evento. Il loro obiettivo: immortalare i migliori trick negli spot più famosi (o nei più segreti) della città andalusa.

 

I rider del team Quiksilver Javier Mendizabal, Cristian Cortizo, Ignacio Morata, Gosha Konishev, Raphael Brunis e Maxim Habanec, insieme ai guest rider Germán Pontiaga, Alberto Velazquez, Miguel Sanchez e gli altri, dovranno mostrare i loro migliori trick davanti all'obiettivo di  Patxi Pardiñas (ESP), Jakub Krizo (CHE), Lev Maslov (RUS) e Antton Miettinen (FIN), tra i più rispettati fotografi del settore.

 

Per mettere la ciliegina sulla torta, il 21 maggio dalle 20.00 ci sarà un grande party al Vertigo (C / Medina 55, Jerez de la Frontera), dove gli scatti del Quiksilver Skate in Vision saranno in mostra e sottoposte al voto dei visitatori.

 

Chi non riuscirà ad essere presente alla mostra finale, potrà comunque votare la sua foto preferita sul sito Quiksilver Skateboarding e partecipare all'estrazione di un outfit completo della collazione Quiksilver Skateboarding, disponibile solo in skate shop selezionati. Il premio per la migliore immagine è piuttosto allettante: 1.000 euro per il fotografo e per lo skater protagonista.
